FAT HAM.

WHAT A CUTIE!!

Google is full of douchebags.

To my dismay, starting yesterday, I could not get to g-mail or any of my google powered blogs (this is the only public one, so you're not missing anything). I found that sometimes, if I restarted my computer I could get to one of the private blogs. Since firefox was starting to act sluggish on top of not opening blogger accounts and g-mail, I tried updating to the latest version. That didn't work.

I knew it wasn't some massive google failure since google.com still worked, I could still visit this blog (but not signed in) and other people who were authors on the private blogs could get to those. Then, I realized that google now has a shiny new browser- Chrome. I download it and LO AND BEHOLD, suddenly all of my google doodads that require passwords work! And Firefox is fine again!

What a load of crap.

More designs.

With the resignation of two Phenomenauts there come NEW CHARACTER DESIGNS FOR THE NEW MEMBERS. Unfortunately there isn't a lot of reference footage of these guys yet. Maybe I'll just have to take a ton of photos when they're playing at the Middle East next month. :D

I'm told this fellow's name is Nick.

Neptune Ted's Casino Sign- pt 2

The second attempt. I might like this one better. The first one looks too much like Slimer.

Neptune Ted's Casino Sign

I mentioned this a while back, but now I'm finally doing something about it- I'm redoing the Phenomenauts animation that was never finished as mini webcomic. Most of the designs are finished from last year, but I never got down the sign for the casino.

Cat Eating Lo Mein

I asked Sketch what I should draw, and he said this:

It reminds me of this.

Average Homeboy, by Denny Blazin' Hazen.

YOU'VE JUST BEEN BLAZED!

18 years later, he's still doing this stuff.

Sometimes shopping at BJ's is scary.

That my friends, is a loin.

I wonder how many people in the greater Boston area have fire pits because that is the only way that thing is getting cooked.

Cute Enough?

Casey told me to draw a hedgehog or kitten that was so cute that people would want to tear their eyes out.

Wolverine: Look Sharp.

I'm sorry I haven't posted at all for a few days. I've been at work- going in early, getting out LATE. It's been a blast.

So, the results for the Wolverine: Look Sharp contest finally came in and I'm in the runner ups! Hoorah! I think that's pretty good considering I don't read Marvel Comics (don't judge me).

I'm a little too tired from my crazy crazy week to talk about the design. If there are questions I will gladly answer them in the comments.

Get Well Card

It's for our co-worker Sherika, who stepped on a broken wine glass in New York and got stitches on the bottom of her foot.

For those of you who don't know, the little guy on the right was made famous HERE.

Been trying to get back into coloring things.

It's workin' out okay.

A Quickie.

I asked Aaron what to draw, and he said dragon. So- I drew a sea dragon. If you don't know what they are, look 'em up. If you live in or near Massachusetts the aquarium in Boston has a bunch of them. They're really cool.

More Things You Might Enjoy.

Video Game Girl- Music and Video by Nerfherder (ParryGripp's band)

Smashed Guitar- A complaint in song/music video form about United Airline's wanton destruction of personal property and their refusal to pay what they owe (that is, until your video complaint goes viral and they're humiliated into semi-decent customer service)

And now some art- Whirring Blender Designs- a blog by Carly Monardo that takes characters and redesigns them into a famous artist's style. My favorite is Robin by Edward Gorey.

Books arranged by color- beautiful.

Kissing Girls.

I really should do more comics involving people at work.

KING OF THE MONGOOSES (mongeese?)

I asked Garth what to draw. He said "mongoose". I didn't want to do a Riki Tiki Tavi thing or a silly, cartoony one because of all of the ferret drawings I've done lately (most of them not posted).

This particular Mongoose King has chosen the 80's laser portrait.

Does it bother anyone else that he is wearing ermine?

The Ferret Loves Moving

All of the boxes from the move have been going inside this gigantic box that Ikea delivered that housed a plush armchair. The ferret just comes around and stares at it.

It's watercolor and ink.

More Old Sketchbooks.

I'll draw something soon.

Tuesday, July 07, 2009

Last one! Maybe. We'll see.

I'm posting all of this old sketchbook stuff because I'm still organizing my new apartment, trying to find curtains and rugs , and putting together modular furniture.
Link
Note: It's not that finding curtains and rugs is a difficult task, but finding ones that aren't boring/hideous but are still affordable is HARD.

On that note- why do our trappings have to become so boring once you get to a certain age?
CHECK THIS OUT. I dare you to tell me that it's not awesome.

Another from the old sketchbook

This one was surrounded by art history and economics notes.

Sunday, July 05, 2009

I've been looking at some old high school sketchbooks.

I think this was a doodle done in a children's book illustration class. I did not sign up for that class, and I hated the teacher. It's not that I have any problem with children's books, but if she only talked about fairy tales, and only ones retconned with happy endings. I did drawings of the little mermaid killing herself and stuff (in the real story she kills herself instead of killing the man she loves, as she is instructed to do and gets rewarded in the afterlife).

Original Paintings up on Etsy.

I've begun to put the tiny paintings up for sale on Etsy. So far there are three up- Duck Butt, Fat Bird #1 and Sleeping Ferret Ball.

Back to the Phenomenauts.

About a year ago I had to stop production on the pilot for the Phenomenauts because I simply didn't have the time to do it. So I'm planning on bringing it back! In comic form! I might start another webpage to put that up on, but I'll post the pages here as well. I am doing this partly to keep the faithful readers from having to clutter up their bookmarks with another link and so that on days when I have new Phenomenauts material I don't have to draw something else as well. Ok. I admit that my decision was based mostly on the latter.

Anyway, I have been doodling in preparation for that comic, but most of them haven't been post worthy. This is something I tried out but did not like.

I have little or nothing to say about this.

Papercraft Castle.

I never had and never will have this sort of dedication to a cause.

Wednesday, July 01, 2009

This is the last of them.

From left to right:
Sabrina, Salem, Principal Waldo Weatherbee, Veronica Lodge, Alexandria Cabot

Yesterday was the worst move ever. Maybe I will make a comic about it. We'll see.
