Same drill as last time. Written by T- continues the storyline. This one was done kind of last minute.

One Heel of One Shoe mostly done.

In the end, I did go with a Grim Fandango theme. I popped the game in and took a ton of screen shots first. In the end, I decided to go with the frieze that rests over the entrance of the DOD (Department of Death). I'm not certain if the rest of the shoe will have anything. If I do decide to put something down, it'll either be one of the people in the morgue or the devil train- probably the first one. I like the image of flowers with some bone poking through.
I'm really happy with the way this came out.

He's gotten more smiley. I think I like it that way.

I added a little something to the Zazzle store. It hasn't been getting any love lately, and the only reason I started it up was so that I could make a lot of things quickly and easily without having to think about it and I haven't done that.

King of All Cosmos Shoes?

I figured I had to at least ATTEMPT a design featuring one of my all time favorite game series. I considered trying a grim fandango one, but I really have no idea what to do for that. While they both have an amazing design to them, Katamari's simple shapes and bright colors are a lot easier to play with than Fandango's ancient South American Empires/art deco/film noir style.

In case it's too obscure from just the one angle, the sole is supposed to be a desolate horizon with a giant ringed planet and moons in the sky.

Finally, a pair for myself.

I've been scouring e-bay for a pair of nice shoes that I can paint for me. It'd be good advertising to wear them around. That, and my last pair of rocket dog mary jane wedges were on their last legs a WHILE ago, but I needed a replacement before getting rid of them.

This set of sketches are going to be done on photographs because the last time I had to shift things around since my drawing of the shoe was a different shape from the real shoe.

Here's my first sketch:

I wanted to try an art nouveau design. If I go through with it I'll have to get a thin white paint marker so that I don't have to gesso the fabric part. The sole is rubber, so that'll have to get lightly sanded and THEN gessoed.

I got a pair of super nice designer shoes (for an awesome price) for painting, so instead of winging it like the others I figured I should sketch out a few ideas. I'm also sketching things out because of all of the stitched on labels everywhere that I have to work around.

Tonight, after a lot of fiddling around I wanted to do a simple child-like landscape during the day and at night. It was kind of quick and silly.

Again, I'll get better photos once I get a model.

Started and finished another pair.

After work today, I picked up a couple more shoes and I finished this pair before bed- glaze and everything. These were an attempt at a more feminine look, as opposed to the sportier look of the first pair.
When I found them they were aqua with a cork heel and I wanted to keep the original concept of a heel with a different color. I also wanted a warm color scheme since the first ones were so cool (in more ways than one).

These have been amazingly fun to do. It's been great branching (no pun intended) out. I've had a hankering to get into painting again, but the idea of pulling out a flat surface bored me.

I'm hoping to get some glamour shots of these in the next couple of days. I just need to hunt down a girl who wears size 8 shoes.

Custom Canvas Wedges!

I painted these wedges this weekend to put on Etsy. I'm still deciding on the price. They'll probably come to about $90. They've got a triple layer of fixative/gloss on them so they're still a little stinky. I'm going to wait a day to put them up.

I think they're super cute. :D
