You made it, JR. Live the dream.

P.S. I'm sorry for drawing you stupid looking. My other sketches were better, but I didn't feel like going into the living room to get them.

I don't know what this is all about.

Your guess is as good as mine.

SO EXCITED.

TALES OF THE BLACK FREIGHTER TRAILER. I'm sure most of you have seen this by now, but I haven't. This is for those of you who have been busy.

I just picked up my opening night Watchmen tickets.

Updated PinKiller.

The shirts went over really well. Our team was STYLISH- thanks to Judas Priest.

Other cool teams: "For Whom The Bell Bowls", "The Disembowlers" (they were covered in blood), and "ShamWOW".

PINKILLER.

This is the design for my bowling team's t-shirts. If I have time I may color it in, but for now, I'm going to bed. I will add a little more detail tomorrow morning, though.

This was not my first choice, but c'est la vie. My first idea was the name "Gordon's Fellows" (after our team leader Gordon Fellows). The design would feature a group of turn of the century gentlemen in bowler hats. My second idea was "The Pin-Bowl Wizards", but in the end, the majority vote went to "Pinkiller".

After hearing a couple of the other names I feel like this is inadequate. The best one I heard today was "Bowling for Concubines".

Feel like crap?

The easiest way to feel better is to know that there are others having a worse day:

Bowling TOMORROW!

Tomorrow we have a company outing where we all go bowling. I'm in charge of designing t-shirts for my team. This is an early sketch.

Taxidermy is cool, but expensive.

I want this, but not for 560 dollars.

Also this, but not for 2,400.

Sunday, February 22, 2009

That was yesterday.

I'm 100% certain that Sherika's day was much worse than mine. Luckily nobody asks me to take screenshots.

I was trying to draw a girl with a friendly octopus, but I kept cutting more and more of it out because the octopus part sucked.

He was originally looking up at her, but it looked really awkward.

Believe it or not, there is a point when you start to get sick of Baba O'Riley

I think that point comes after 1.2 weeks of listening to it. It is at that point that you just have to stop and draw a naked lady.

Bear with me...

I bought Bill Pressing's "Book Plate Beauties" and all I got was this sketch of Chun Li.

It's a great little book. The paintings in it are so simple and perfect. Check it out.

It has inspired me to do more pinups.

Also, if any of you see "Belle Du Jour" for sale anywhere PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me. I can't even find it on sites that specialize in used, out-of-print art books.

Princess Peach Polish

This was part of something much larger that got scrapped. To her left in the background Koopa was coming through the wall with a whole bunch of minions. It was supposed to be a "not this again" kind of idea, but I wasn't feeling it.

They come in small, medium, large and extra large.

Does anyone else really want to see popcorn pop? Because I do.

That is probably the worst part of making popcorn. I can hear what's going on, but I can never see it. I know an astounding firey transformation is taking place right before me, but I also know that a glance would spell DISASTER. This must be how Lot felt.

Editor's note: Peek is misspelled four times. I know. (Boo homonyms)

Also, I have just been informed that I own pots with glass tops.

INKED!

You know, because that is where I keep my smarts.

Here are some etsy sellers that I think are great.

Seth Rolland's Furniture
Check out the parabola hall table and the bookends. His work is amazing and I will never be able to afford it.

Dolan Geiman- "contemporary art with a southern accent"

Sunday, February 15, 2009

He likes to wrestle bags of chips. I think he likes the sound they make.

It's pretty easy to turn his attention to a pillow, though.

Saturday, February 14, 2009

Hopefully I will have time to ink this tomorrow night.

We shall see! I think this incident happened during the summer- thus the earlier hair style. The same is true for Sherika, but I've never put her in a comic before so most of you wouldn't know that.

That is also not the final dialogue.
I'll be a lot happier when this has cleaner lines.

Been working on some pendants.

I'm not sure why I'm making pendants. I just picked up the Sculpey and started making things. I don't know if I want these to all be pendants- I might make brooches and hair clips. I would've baked these tonight, but it's late. I'll do that tomorrow.

This first one got some grease in it.

I made a skirt.

It's been a while since I've sewn anything and this is something I've wanted to try for a while.
Exhibit A: An ordinary corduroy skirt

Exibit B: The zippers reveal gores of bright pleated fabric! It's like TWO skirts.

Detail shot: Try not to have a seizure from the bright colors.

I think it came out pretty nice. It's not all poofy when it's zipped up- SUCCESS!

HAPPY BELATED VALENTINE'S/PRESIDENT'S DAY!

I felt bad for not drawing anything for either of those days.

*for those who are reading archives in the future- I know this says the 11th, but it's actually the 17th. I'm trying to catch up! I swear!

Finished(?) Poster.

It's 6:30 in the morning. I'm going to bed.

Teaser for the next "The Trouble With Time Travel" poster.

I started sketching before I knew what the movie was called. WHOOPS! I had also started before I knew what the movie was about- it had to get altered slightly.

I am very happy with the beaver skull, though.

Poster for The Trouble With Time Travel

The poster for a new film- to be premiering SOON!

THE TROUBLE WITH TIME TRAVEL!

This is the teaser poster for the movie- it's based on old penguin press book designs.

I hate this website. It is so gross. Here, look at it.

This is why you're fat.

Damn Hairdressers Think They Know What You Want.

Things were easier when I had hair down to my butt. I could just grab it, and chop off a bit of the end and that was it. End of story. Now I have to deal with other people. I hate other people.

If you go to a cheap place, you risk getting someone who really shouldn't have passed beauty school, but maybe their mother died and they scraped by with a sympathy D. At a ritzy place you get a pro, but you're also paying 3 times as much to argue with someone who doesn't want you to look too "out there" despite the fact that you've assured them several times that you do own several hats just in case.

Epilogue:
I gave a poor tip, went home and cut my own hair.

Another happy fun time sketch.

Oh, Boris.

Mr. Vallejo has interesting ideas about where a centaur's dangling unmentionables should go.

The best(?) painting you'll see in a long time

Crypto-taxidermy... almost.

These are sculptures made up to look like specimens rather than real animals sewn together to make fake animals, but it's still cool.

YEE-HAW. THREE IN ONE DAY.

This one is my favorite by far. AND I think it's ready for sellin'. I still need to buy closures for the other two. I was considering adding some togs and frills to it, but the other two dresses are so frilly- but I thought that this one should be simpler. In the end, it wound up looking a lot like a Sailor Jerry dress that I really want.

Her hem is not crooked. It's on the books.

THIS FABRIC IS SO PRETTY, BUT I HAVE SO LITTLE. I can't make a real person dress for it. :/

Blythe Clothing- success number 2

This one is a simple a-line dress. I was hoping to make a little collared shirt to go under it, but I think I would rather collect my laundry from the basement and then go to bed.

Those are the last of the wee little buttons that I happened to have at the bottom of my free buttons bag. Now I need to go BUY some. Well, at least they won't all be beige- and the tons of free fabric MORE than makes up for it.

I've found this all to be rather soothing. I rarely like the clothes I make for myself, and I hate how long it takes to make full sized garments, but this is very nice. It's taking care of all of my sewing cravings.

New Doll Dress.

I'm kind of tired of people asking if I'm going to make a "Lucy dress" every time I pick up a piece of polka-dot fabric. I'm fairly certain that Lucille Ball was not the only person who wore polka dots- and she did not wear them all of the time.

Check out this tiny pocket! I loves it.

I wish it only took a couple of hours to make a full sized dress. BOO.

Uuuugh. I wanna go home. I should be at home. But I am still at work.

Doll Clothes: attempt #1

I just started on this tonight. It's not done yet. The back is just pinned together. I'll probably have to pick up some velcro for that. I'm also considering adding some beads to it -probably not in a pattern. Some gold beads would look nice scattered on the lower skirt. I've got some itsy bitsy ones that I've never found any use for. Or, if I can find some teensy weensy buttons, I'll put those down the front.

And for the enthusiasts:
Yes, that is a Takara Neo Blythe doll. The model is Precocious Candy's Mush Room. I'm pretty sure she is the Blythe doll with the worst name next to "Save the Animals".

I weep for the future.

More reasons to switch from Verizon.

Discuss.
